It blows my mind that players can basically dictate where they want to go now. Everyone wants to go to a contender, but how do you become one if superstars are unwilling to go to your team?! It’s a slippery slope that can only be avoided through a good GM, good coaching, and a lot of luck in the draft.

The Trail Blazers want to keep Lillard happy by sending him to a place he actually wants to go, but they also need appropriate compensation in order to restart their organization.

Everyone seems to think he is taking his talents to South Beach, but let’s look at the potential trade packages and evaluate each team's chances of getting one of the best guards in the game.

Miami Heat

Trade: Kyle Lowry, Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and several draft picks.

Just imagine the trio of Lillard, Jimmy Butler, and Bam Adebayo. They would instantly be one of the NBA's best, especially after coming off their recent Eastern Conference championship. Adding a piece like Lillard would most likely make them NBA Finals favorites.

Obviously, we like to think about our future bets here, and since the Miami Heat are the most likely candidate to land Lillard, let’s place a bet on it before it actually happens. This will help us maximize our winnings when the odds are at their lowest.

Brooklyn Nets

Trade: Ben Simmons, Cam Thomas, Day'Ron Sharpe, and a few first-round picks.

The Nets have accumulated a substantial array of assets through various trades in recent years. One particularly lucrative transaction for them was Kevin Durant's move to the Phoenix Suns.

While teaming up with Mikal Bridges would be exciting to watch, I think at this point of his career, he is looking for more of a sure thing, and the Nets are just not there yet.

New York Knicks

Trade: RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, Evan Fournier, and a sh*t ton of first-rounders.

This makes no sense to me, but they are still in the conversation. The Knicks have tried to land every superstar in free agency over the years but just happened upon one last year by adding Jalen Brunson.

While Lillard's addition would elevate most teams to playoff contenders, it's challenging to envision him landing with the Knicks. The team isn't yet at the level that would entice a veteran player seeking immediate success. Despite the potential for a fantastic backcourt pairing with Brunson, Lillard doesn't seamlessly fit into the current lineup.

Does Joel Embiid Leave the 76ers?!

It’s time to give up on the process.

The Philadelphia 76ers have made numerous attempts to find success with Joel Embiid, but they have continually been disappointed in the postseason. Despite Embiid's tenure with the team, they have failed to advance beyond the second round of the playoffs, which could lead the MVP center to consider leaving. If James Harden's trade request is granted, Embiid might be left without significant support for yet another year, which could potentially drive him to seek a new team.

While it seems unlikely that Lillard would join the Knicks, I believe Embiid would be an excellent fit for New York. The Knicks have accumulated multiple first-round draft picks over the years, providing them with the assets to acquire Embiid without disrupting the team's structure.

If the circumstances take a turn for the worse in terms of the Sixers' lack of success and the consistent changes in Embiid's co-star, I see the Knicks as the team poised to seize the opportunity and acquire the reigning MVP.

Furthermore, it is worth noting that Embiid's former agent is New York's current president, Leon Rose, adding another layer of sense to the potential trade.
