5 PLAYERS YOU NEED TO TARGET ON WAIVERS 🎯(PER YAHOO FANTASY)
WR Puka Nacua (94% available)
Nacua is likely here to stay as Matthew Stafford’s top target in Kupp’s absence. Fun fact: Nacua was PFF’s highest graded receiver in college football in 2022. There’s a chance that this was a complete steal by the Rams’ front office. Stafford also looked great in Week 1, which bodes well for Nacua’s season-long value. He’s my top waiver target of the week.

RB Kenneth Gainwell (53% available)
Gainwell dominated usage for the Eagles in Week 1, which makes him the best bet in this backfield for the foreseeable future. Philly has a great matchup in Week 2, taking on the Vikings at home on Thursday Night Football. The Eagles are heavy favorites, so this projects as a positive game script, meaning more work for Gainwell. However, I do see this evolving into a committee, which keeps Gainwell at number two on this list. It’s also worth noting that he’s currently banged up with a ribs injury.
RB Joshua Kelley (96% available)
Joshua Kelley had 16 carries and one target in Week 1, playing only three fewer snaps than Austin Ekeler. It’s clear that new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore wants to establish the run with a two-pronged attack this year. This makes Kelley a valuable handcuff with standalone value. The Chargers should be one of the best offenses in the NFL, so be sure to pick up Kelley immediately. We should also mention that Ekeler popped up on the injury report with an ankle injury, adding to Kelley’s appeal.
RB Kyren Williams (94% available)
Kyren Williams had 15 carries and two targets in Week 1, out-snapping Cam Akers 53-to-28. While Akers got 22 rush attempts, eight of those came with the Rams leading 30-13 and only three minutes left in the fourth quarter. It looks like Williams is the better bet in this Rams’ backfield right now, making him a must-add. However, a tough Week 2 matchup awaits against the 49ers.
Former Notre Dame running back Kyren Williams is a touchdown machine. This is his second score of the day.

RB Justice Hill (96% available)
With J.K. Dobbins (torn Achilles) out for the season, we can project a committee in the Ravens’ backfield. While Gus Edwards factored into the mix with eight carries, four of those came with the Ravens already leading 25-9. It was Justice Hill who had two touchdowns. This could become a difficult situation with Melvin Gordon potentially entering the mix as well, but I’d take a shot on Hill because he’s the best pass-catcher of the group.

OVERREACTION: Kenneth Gainwell is the Eagles bell cow RB
Kenneth Gainwell dominated touches for the Eagles in Week 1, getting 14 carries and four targets while running 16 routes. D’Andre Swift had only three touches, Boston Scott played only eight snaps, and Rashaad Penny was a surprise healthy scratch. While it’s clear that the Eagles’ coaching staff trusts Gainwell, we can project this backfield to evolve into a committee as the season progresses, starting as early as this week. Swift and Penny are too talented for such limited roles.
UNDERREACTION: Puka Nacua is a one-week wonder
Puka Nacua caught 10-of-15 targets for 119 yards against the Seahawks in his NFL debut. Not bad for a rookie who was selected in the fifth round of this year’s draft. Don’t underreact to this game, as Nacua had the most targets for a rookie wideout in Week 1 since this stat started being tracked in 1992, per Scott Barrett of Fantasy Points. There’s a good chance that Nacua can provide at least WR3 value, at least until Cooper Kupp returns.
BUY/HOLD/SELL 👈🤯
BUY WR Drake London
Drake London was shut out in Week 1, receiving only one target from Desmond Ridder because the Falcons only attempted 18 passes while controlling the game on the ground. While Atlanta should be run-heavy with erratic quarterback play all year, it’s likely that you can acquire London at a much cheaper price than his preseason ADP. This is still a stud Year 2 wideout who can provide value later in the season.

HOLD WR Tee Higgins
Tee Higgins is another player who gave you a zero in Week 1, failing to catch a pass on eight targets. This game can be viewed as an aberration for the Bengals, as Joe Burrow struggled in his return from a calf injury, throwing for only 82 yards on 31 attempts. Cincinnati’s passing game should rebound in the next couple of weeks, so be sure to hold onto Higgins.
SELL WR Mike Evans
Mike Evans caught 6-of-10 targets for 66 yards and a touchdown in Week 1. Your competitors may have warmed up to Evans after he was mostly avoided in drafts due to Baker Mayfield. While Evans had a good game, Mayfield still only averaged just over five yards per attempt in an exploitable matchup against a vulnerable Vikings’ pass defense. Evans’ solid fantasy day creates a sell-high opportunity for you.
PLAYER NEWS TO KEEP AN EYE ON 📰👀
Will D’Andre Swift Get More Touches in Week 2?
Fantasy managers were shocked to see D’Andre Swift get only two touches against the Patriots. Even head coach Nick Sirianni stated after the game that “we can’t go a game without getting him the football.” We could see the Eagles try to get Swift more involved in the short week on Thursday Night Football.

Will Travis Kelce return in Week 2?
It’s clear that the Chiefs missed Travis Kelce in their Week 1 loss to the Lions, one which was filled with drops by Kadarius Toney while Skyy Moore failed to earn targets. It’s likely that Kelce will be back in Week 2 and you can bet that Patrick Mahomes will be relieved to be able to pepper his favorite target once again.

INTRIGUING PLAYER STATS 📊
The Dallas Cowboys defense/special teams scored more points than Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, Joe Mixon, and Tee Higgins combined.
Baltimore Ravens’ rookie wideout Zay Flowers had an impressive 45.5% target share in his NFL debut.
Washington Commanders’ rookie running back Chris Rodriguez had the same number of carries as Antonio Gibson (three).
A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith combined for 60% of the Eagles’ target share in Week 1.
