Is Lamar Done in Baltimore?

We have been talking a lot about college basketball lately, but there is just too much going on in the sports world to not discuss. I mention some college basketball at the bottom of this email, but let’s chat about other sports-related topics first.

Lamar Requested a Trade on March 2 🤯

Everything you need to know about the situation and more!

We have all been wondering about this Lamar Jackson situation and when the Ravens will finally sign him to a deal he deserves. I cannot fathom him wearing any other team's jersey, and it would just be stupid for the Ravens to let him go. He is a top 10 QB in the league and deserves to be paid like one.

As a Jets fan, when you catch lightning in a bottle, you do not open the bottle and let it go. Especially with a franchise-changing position like the quarterback. My team has never caught lightning in a bottle and only seems to get old, potentially washed-up lightning that used to be an MVP on the Packers lol. The point is, players like Lamar Jackson are not easy to come by… so WTF IS GOING ON?!

Lamar’s contract situation has been one of the biggest unanswered questions of the NFL offseason, and if you have been following along, you’ll know all about the weird rumors surrounding it as well.

  1. Some people believe that his not getting a contract is the entire NFL putting its foot down on guaranteed contracts.

  2. He is his own agent and apparently not a very good one.

  3. The NFL had to issue a statement to not negotiate with a person named Ken Francis, who is not NFLPA-certified but allegedly attempted to speak with teams about Jackson's contract.

  4. It just doesn’t make sense to me that the Baltimore Ravens are not giving him whatever he wants.

If he requested a trade on March 2, it would mean that he did so five days prior to the Ravens placing the non-exclusive tag on him. This tag enabled Jackson to engage in negotiations with other teams. However, the Ravens still have the right to match any offer that Jackson receives or trade him to the team that signs him in exchange for two first-round picks, which I believe most teams would be willing to give up if they do not already have a QB.

Following Jackson's tweet of his "letter to my fans," Ravens head coach John Harbaugh was set to address reporters at the annual NFL owners meeting. Harbaugh was obviously bombarded with questions about Jackson and his tweet, to which he responded with this. 👇

Do you think the Ravens go over or under 8.5 wins without Lamar?

The Panthers are now on the clock after their blockbuster deal, sending D.J. Moore and a slew of draft compensation to the Bears to get the No. 1 overall pick.

Unlike last year, there are some good options at quarterback in this year’s draft. The favorite right now is Ohio State’s CJ Stroud, who is given -330 odds to go first overall.

I love watching the NFL Draft, and this year will be especially interesting as there is very little known about where the top prospects in the class will land. It is usually the only time of the year when I feel excited and optimistic about my team's future, hoping that they can select a game-changing player capable of transforming the franchise.
