LeBron Ruined The Dunk Contest 🏀

PLUS: Carr and Rodgers landing spots, the XFL is sick, & top 10 beer rankings!

We all know All-Star games are absolute 💩, but why is that? Why is it that when the greatest players in the world come together to compete against each other, it’s incredibly hard to watch? Personally, the only way I can tolerate watching such games is by betting on the competitions, which I was fortunate enough to win thanks to Mac McClung's remarkable performance.

Despite this, I must say that this year's NBA Dunk Contest was surprisingly good and managed to overshadow everything else. Mac McClung's series of awe-inspiring dunks stole the show on Saturday night and possibly rescued the dunk contest.

If you are not sure who Mac McClung is, you aren’t the only one. Mac was a viral Instagram star in his high school days. He then went on to play at Georgetown and Texas Tech, and since going undrafted in 2021 has been grinding away in the G League, waiting for his shot. Prior to the dunk contest, he only played two games in the NBA.

Although we got to see some amazing dunks, who tf cares about Mac McClung? I want to see the top NBA players perform on this stage, not a D-League player. I blame this all on LeBron James. Let me explain why👇.

It's disappointing that LeBron James didn't participate in the NBA Dunk Contest, especially considering the impact he could have had on the event. In the past, we have seen some of the greatest players in the game put on amazing performances, like Dr. J, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Vince Carter. However, LeBron's absence has led to a decline in interest and talent in the contest, with lesser-known players like Mac McClung stealing the show.

As one of the greatest players of all time, LeBron had a responsibility to be a leader and to help uplift the contest. His failure to participate has contributed to the decline of the All-Star games over the years, with fewer and fewer stars participating in the Slam Dunk Contest. In the end, LeBron James is responsible for the demise of the All-Star games.

The two biggest questions in the NFL offseason are the landing spots of Derek Carr and Aaron Rodgers.

I notice one thing from these graphics. I am putting some 💸 on the New York Jets!

We all know the Jets are in the market for a veteran quarterback and these are the best available in the market. The Jets had a great team this year that just fell short because of a disastrous second season from 2021 first-round pick Zach Wilson that featured poor play with a side of poor leadership. Honestly, it’s some of the worst QB play I have ever seen in my life and one of his mom’s best friends would have been an upgrade.

The Jets otherwise have a promising young roster, with a top-five defense and the NFL's offensive and defensive Rookies of the Year, Garrett Wilson and Sauce Gardner. Although they were poised for the playoffs, a six-game losing streak at the end of the season derailed their hopes, and they seem to be a quarterback short of becoming legitimate contenders.

The XFL is Back and it is AWESOME

The XFL made a comeback over the weekend with The Rock at the helm this time after it filed for bankruptcy in 2020 under Vince McMahon. More football is exactly what I needed.

The XFL provides a unique experience that deviates from what we typically see in the NFL, partly by implementing their own set of rules. These modifications aim to enhance the excitement of the game and provide a singular viewing experience for fans. Every rule change seems like it is an idea that has likely crossed the minds of an NFL fan seeking to make the sport more engaging. Personally, I love it.

PAT Attempts 🏈

During the point-after-touchdown attempt, teams will have three alternatives to select from. They can opt to score one point by attempting a PAT from two yards, aim for two points by taking it from five yards, or try for a more challenging ten-yard play to earn three points. This approach provides teams with some flexibility in determining their endgame strategy.

Coaches Challenges 🚩

The XFL has an interesting rule in place where coaches have the opportunity to challenge any aspect of the game, including penalty calls, once per game.

Onside Kick ➡️ 4th-and-15

The method for executing onside kicks will differ from the NFL. In the fourth quarter, teams will have the option to attempt a fourth-and-15 play from their own 25-yard line instead. If successful, the team retains possession of the ball.

Only One Foot 😱

The XFL and NFL have differing rules on what constitutes a completed catch. In the XFL, the player only needs one foot in bounds for the catch to be considered complete.
