Potential SUPER BOWL Preview on Monday Night Football

Plus: Fantasy Football Roundup, Best Sportsbook Promos, & Daily MLB Picks

The New York Jets will take on the San Francisco 49ers in a potential Super Bowl preview for the NFL’s first Monday night primetime slot of the season.

Returning for New York is former MVP QB Aaron Rodgers, who attempted just one pass in 2023 before an injury forced him out for the remainder of the season. He’ll look to get the Jets back on track after a 7-10 campaign.

Meanwhile, the 49ers are coming off of a trip to the Super Bowl where they came up just short against the Kansas City Chiefs. The team recently re-signed standout WR Brandon Aiyuk, ensuring QB Brock Purdy still has a wide range of playmakers at his disposal.

Based on the projected spread and Over/Under, we’re looking at what’s likely to be a tight, low-scoring game. Oddsmakers have the 49ers scoring around 24 points, while the Jets come in just under 20.

What should we expect from the Jets? If nothing else, we know we’ll see an elite defense take the field. New York has top-tier players on that side of the ball, including CB Sauce Gardner, DT Quinnen Williams, and LB C.J. Mosley.

As for the 49ers, this group is among the best in the league in virtually all regards. RB Christian McCaffrey is coming off of an MVP-caliber season, TE George Kittle had another strong year, and the defensive line is unstoppable.

There were concerns about the San Francisco offensive line — particularly while All-Pro Trent Williams was holding out for a new contract — but now that he's re-signed, Purdy and Co. should get all the protection they need.

👀 Fantasy Football Roundup

Week 1 had its fair share of data points, which we’ll outline below:

Joe Mixon had 30 carries and three targets, finishing with 178 total yards and one touchdown. The veteran RB is an absolute workhorse in an elite offense, making him a Top-12 option going forward.

Kyren Williams played on 90% of the snaps, but totaled only 54 yards and a touchdown against a tough run defense. Expect the Rams to continue to lean on Kyren, but I still have confidence that Blake Corum will eventually emerge.

Cooper Kupp is back — putting up an insane 41.7% target share as the Rams relied on him with Puka Nacua departing with injury. Fire up Kupp as an elite WR1 moving forward.

The Jameson Williams breakout is well underway, as the deep threat put up 134 total yards and a touchdown. This is an upside WR3 with spike week potential.

The Bucs offense is humming even without Dave Canales. New OC Liam Coen did a great job using Chris Godwin in the slot, mixing in Bucky Irving, and getting Jalen McMillan involved.

It was a bad day for Javonte Williams, who saw far less usage than expected. It will be interesting to see if that changes in Week 2 against the Steelers.

George Pickens was the focal point for the Steelers, putting up a 30.4% target share with 54.4% of the total passing yards.

The Jaguars run defense is a major problem, holding De’Von Achane and Raheem Mostert to only 31 yards on 16 carries (1.6 YPC).

Look to attack the Bengals run defense, which was gashed by Rhamondre Stevenson for 4.8 YPC on 25 attempts.

While the Bears offense struggled, Keenan Allen dominated the target share at 37.9%.
