Where Will Shohei Ohtani Play Next?
The Angels could trade Shohei Ohtani this year, and he 'will definitely' leave the Angels if they fall out of playoff contention, per Jeff Passan 👀
When it comes to acquiring superstar players with price tags as high as Shohei Ohtani's, only a select few teams can realistically afford him. The New York Mets, the New York Yankees, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the San Francisco Giants are among those teams.
Ohtani, is considered by many to be the most exciting player in all of sports and would undoubtedly bring immense value to any team that signs him. With his next contract likely to be in the neighborhood of a $45 million average annual value and potentially reaching a total of $500 million, he could set multiple records.
New York Mets — The New York Mets, under the ownership of Steve Cohen, has demonstrated a willingness to spend lavishly to acquire top-tier talent. Following the Carlos Correa debacle, the team is undoubtedly on the lookout for another superstar to bolster their lineup, and they have reportedly set their sights on Shohei Ohtani this winter. With no indication that their spending spree will cease anytime soon, the Mets are poised to make a serious play for the 2021 AL MVP.
New York Yankees — The New York Yankees are perennially considered one of the top contenders for any high-profile free agent due to their significant financial resources. With the ability to outspend nearly every other team in Major League Baseball, the Yankees are always a serious contender for top talent, including Shohei Ohtani.
However, with New York being a considerable distance from Ohtani's native Japan, it remains to be seen whether the 2021 AL MVP would seriously consider the Yankees or Mets as potential destinations. Nonetheless, given the lure of playing for one of the most storied franchises in sports history and the potential to contend for a World Series title, the Yankees cannot be counted out of the Ohtani sweepstakes.
Los Angeles Dodgers — It is obviously expected that the Los Angeles Dodgers will try to acquire Ohtani during the next offseason. The Dodgers had a relatively quiet 2022-2023 offseason, during which they reduced their payroll and went below the luxury tax threshold. This has led some to speculate whether these financial moves were made in preparation for a potential pursuit of Ohtani.
San Francisco Giants — The San Francisco Giants are likely to continue their pursuit of high-profile free agents after losing out on Aaron Judge and Carlos Correa. As one of the best available players in the market, Ohtani would undoubtedly be a prime target for the Giants, particularly given his potential preference for playing on the West Coast. It's safe to say that San Francisco will be in the mix for Ohtani's services during the upcoming offseason.

Oakland A’s Moving to Vegas 🤯
After years of tense negotiations to remain in the Bay Area, the Oakland A's have announced that they have reached a deal to acquire a stadium site near the Las Vegas Strip. This move marks the first time since 2005 when the Montreal Expos became the Washington Nationals that a Major League Baseball team will relocate.
Despite being a storied franchise with a rich history, the A's have struggled with declining attendance in recent years, often ranking near the bottom of MLB in terms of average attendance. Last season, the team's run-down and cavernous Coliseum was the only venue in baseball to average fewer than 10,000 fans per game.
By relocating to Las Vegas, the A's hope to revitalize their fan base and draw in new fans from the city's large and growing population. They will also be following in the footsteps of other major sports leagues and tournaments, such as the NFL, NHL, WNBA, and NCAA men's basketball tournament, which have all seen success in the Las Vegas market.
While Las Vegas was once considered taboo by sports leagues and team owners due to its association with sports gambling, the legalization of sports betting in many states has changed the landscape. The move to Vegas could also have financial benefits for the A's, as they could potentially see an increase in revenue from the move.
All in all, this is a significant development in the world of baseball, and it will be interesting to see how the A's fare in their new home in Las Vegas.
Celtics vs Hawks Predictions & Best Bets
Tonight at 7:00 PM on ESPN
The Boston Celtics have taken the first two games against the Atlanta Hawks by double-digit margins. They will look to put a stranglehold on the series Friday night in Game 3.
In a series that begins with one team exerting dominance over the first two games, we often see a letdown in Game 3. However, I do not expect that to happen here.
The Celtics are a veteran team. They know they will get Atlanta’s best effort here and will not take the Hawks lightly.
Game 2 went Under its implied total despite the teams combining to shoot 48.7% from the floor. Even still, the total for Game 3 is almost the same as it was for Game 2.
I’ll be taking advantage of that by taking the Under here.
The Celtics have held the Hawks to an average of 102.5 points in this series. I do not expect them to deviate much from what has worked thus far from a defensive standpoint.
I do not think Boston will have trouble scoring when they need to. However, the first two games of this series have been played at a slower pace than what we saw in the regular season.
Boston averaged a combined 110.4 field goal and free throw attempts during the regular season. That number has dropped to 101 in the first two games of this series.

Cavaliers vs Knicks Predictions & Best Bets
Tonight at 8:30 PM on ABC
After a huge win on the road in Game 1, the Knicks were demolished by the Cavaliers in Game 2 and return to New York in the midst of an even opening-round playoff series.
The Knicks should squeeze this one out based on the many edges they have over the Cavaliers. New York can rebound and score the ball better, and their bench has outperformed that of Cleveland’s.
With that said, the first two games in this series have shown that these teams are evenly matched, and there’s no value in laying the two points with the Knicks. Instead, turn your attention to the total.
Including the regular season, the Under has now cashed in three out of the Knicks’ last four games, including both in Cleveland. The number continues to plummet from a 216-point total in Game 1 to a total of 214 in Game 2, and now a 211.5-point total for Game 3.
The Knicks have shot 25.8% from three in this series, as the Cavaliers’ backcourt puts the clamps on their shooters. The Knicks have also been a bit limited in the paint by Jarrett Allen, who’s leading the Cavaliers in blocks per game.
Why do these things matter? Well, New York’s got the stronger of the two offenses.
In addition, the pace here dropped from a slow 95 rating to just 92.5 in Game 2. These two teams have been taking their sweet time in their halfcourt sets, and with some strong defensive work, should continue to torture folks who want to tune in and watch offense.

Nuggets vs Timberwolves Predictions & Best Bets
For a majority of Game 2, it looked like the Nuggets were on their way to another blowout victory. That was until the third quarter came.
The Timberwolves poured in 40 points in the frame, re-took the lead after trailing by as many as 21 points, and battled until the end before eventually losing by nine points.
I projected this matchup to go at least six games in my series prediction. That wasn’t looking too good after Game 1. However, the Timberwolves battled back in Game 2, and it now looks like they can be competitive with the best team in the West.
A lot of that was due to Edwards, who took over on offense by scoring 41 points and going 6-for-10 from beyond the arc. As long as he keeps things up in Minnesota, the Timberwolves’ key to a victory will be restricting Denver’s shooters.
The Nuggets shot 54.1% from the field in Game 2, and Minnesota cannot win in a shootout against them. Should they limit Denver’s scoring opportunities, they can steal a win here.
Expect Minnesota to lock in on defense in Game 3 and contain Denver’s shooting. Role players generally perform worse on the road, for what it’s worth.
Karl-Anthony Towns has also struggled offensively in the series, and he should benefit from a change of scenery here as well. He’ll need to improve upon his scoring in the paint.
