Week 14 TNF: Packers vs Lions

Plus: Fantasy Football Rankings, NBA Props, & Sportsbook Promos

Thursday Night Football features an NFC North clash between the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions in Week 14.

The Packers (9-3) are coming off a convincing win over the Dolphins, continuing to establish themselves as Super Bowl contenders. The Lions (11-1) survived the Bears, as they look poised to lock up a first-round bye in the NFC.

Let’s make a prediction on tonight’s pivotal NFC North matchup:

The Lions are dealing with a myriad of injuries, especially on defense. Not only do edge-rushers Aidan Hutchinson and Marcus Davenport remain out, but now defensive linemen Josh Paschal, Levi Onwuzurike, and DJ Reader are also banged up. Let's not forget linebacker Alex Anzalone as well.

That's bad news against one of the most productive running games in the NFL.

Since Week 7, the Packers rank 7th in Rush EPA. During this stretch, Josh Jacobs has put up 523 rushing yards and seven touchdowns in only five games.

While the Lions are stout against the run, dealing with injuries up front could cause them to slip up here.

It's also worth noting that offensive tackle Taylor Decker is also dealing with an injury. Decker's absence could cause issues in pass protection.

With that in mind, look for the Packers to pull off the upset in this pivotal NFC North matchup as they try to avoid the sweep vs their division rivals.

TNF Score Prediction: Packers 27, Lions 24

Now let’s give you a sneak peek of our best bets:

TNF SGP (+230):

  • Jayden Reed Over 47.5 Receiving Yards (-120)

  • Tucker Kraft Under 33.5 Receiving Yards (-110)

The TNF SGP starts with Jayden Reed Over 47.5 receiving yards because the Lions allow production to slot receivers, and Reed plays in the slot 70+% of the time.

Some examples of slot wideouts to go off vs Detroit include Chris Godwin (117 yards), Cooper Kupp (110 yards), and CeeDee Lamb (89 yards).

It's also worth noting that Reed put up 113 yards against this defense in their previous meeting this season.

I'll add Tucker Kraft Under 33.5 receiving yards because the Lions are tough against tight ends, allowing only 375 yards (1st) and 5.6 yards per target (2nd).

🏈 Fantasy Football Rankings

It feels like a good time for a Mike Evans spike week. The Raiders have allowed 270+ passing yards in three consecutive games.

We just saw Baker Mayfield struggle against the Panthers — this looks like a get-right spot for the Bucs’ passing game.

There’s also a good chance that Baker force-feeds Evans the ball as they try to get him to 1,000 yards to keep his streak going — the veteran has eclipsed this number in each of his 10 seasons.

Read more of my rankings, which were 6th overall in FantasyPros accuracy in the 2023 season.

🏀 NBA Props

Don’t miss out on our NBA Props, as picks on this page are 16-7 (+7.9 units).

Here’s a preview for you:

Dereck Lively: Over 8.5 Rebounds (-130) at Wizards

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 Unit

Dereck Lively is averaging 7.4 rebounds per game, but he's put up nine or more boards in eight of 14 games when he gets at least 20 minutes.

According to @DK__DFS on X with stats from NBA.com, Lively is getting 17.2 rebound chances per game in his last five.

This is a good spot vs the Wizards, who are allowing the seventh-most rebounds to opposing centers.

Look for Lively to crash the glass tonight.

🏈 Week 14 SNF Chargers vs Chiefs

Neither team looked all that impressive in its last outing. Kansas City eked out another one-score victory on Black Friday, beating Las Vegas 19-17 in a game where the Raiders would’ve had a chance to win if not for a bad snap in the final seconds. Los Angeles claimed a 17-13 win in Atlanta on Sunday despite managing just 187 total yards of offense.

These AFC West foes tend to bring out the best in each other, so let’s hope the quality of play improves for this highly-anticipated SNF matchup. Let’s examine the latest betting odds for Sunday’s showdown before digging into my Chargers vs Chiefs prediction and best bets.

Los Angeles struggled mightily on offense last week in Atlanta, as rookie wideout Ladd McConkey (117 receiving yards) was Justin Herbert’s only reliable option. The Chargers couldn’t run the ball without J.K. Dobbins (sprained MCL), and Quentin Johnston continued to disappoint.

I don’t see how Jim Harbaugh’s squad keeps up with the Chiefs on the road, especially since Steve Spagnuolo’s defense limited the Chargers to 10 points and 224 total yards in Week 4. Los Angeles has made strides under its new head coach, especially on defense, but this roster lacks Kansas City’s talent.

The Chiefs have their vulnerabilities, especially on the offensive line, but Mahomes will extend enough plays with his legs to make some throws down the field.

SNF Score Prediction: Chiefs 27, Chargers 13

Los Angeles has scored 17 or fewer points in each of their last three games against the Chiefs. The Chargers have also cashed this prop in three of their four losses this season.

Justin Herbert doesn’t have the arsenal of weapons he used to, so I don’t see how LA gets Over this number without help from its defense or special teams. Take the plus-money odds and run.

Chargers: Under 17.5 Points (+110)
