Week 17 MNF: Lions vs 49ers

Plus: NBA Props, NBA Parlays, & Sportsbook Promos

The Lions (13-2) take on the 49ers (6-9) in what has become a meaningless game with zero playoff implications following the weekend results.

Whether Detroit wins or loses, it has no effect on their playoff seeding. Either way, they need to beat the Vikings in Week 18 to lock up the one seed. In other words, even if the Lions beat the 49ers, it won't help them get the one seed.

Let’s take a look at our predictions for this game:

MNF Score Prediction: Lions 24, 49ers 21

In a year where Detroit has dealt with numerous injuries, the right move here would be to rest some of their starters, at least for part of the game.

There is no need to risk more injury when you have a huge Week 18 matchup vs the Vikings to see who gets the top seed.

Even though Dan Campbell has said that Detroit will play their starters, I have to bake in some risk that this won't be the case, which is why I've shifted to predict a closer game than initially expected.

On another note, the Lions are dealing with numerous injuries on defense, which is why they've allowed 30+ points in two of their last three games.

But the offense continues to thrive, putting up 34 or more points in three consecutive games.

Jahmyr Gibbs should be able to have success against a 49ers defense that just allowed 190 total yards to De'Von Achane, who is similar to Gibbs in that he's an explosive runner and dynamic receiver.

The 49ers have now lost five of their last six games. This team played hard in a 29-17 loss to the Dolphins, so they definitely can pull up the upset here, especially with Detroit having nothing to play for.

I'm sticking with Detroit to win here, but it should be a close game.

Now let’s give you a sneak peek of our best bets:

MNF Prop Bet: Jahmyr Gibbs Under 18.5 Rush Attempts (-110)

Jahmyr Gibbs had 23 carries with David Montgomery sidelined last week, but I'm going with the Under in this spot.

There's no need for the Lions to push Gibbs in a meaningless game. It would be foolish to risk injury in a matchup with nothing at stake.

Even still, 18.5 is a high bar. Gibbs can still get 15-17 carries and we'd comfortably win this bet.

I'll take my chances with the Under here.

Ivica Zubac: Over 28.5 Points+Rebounds (-105) at Pelicans

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 Unit

Ivica Zubac is averaging 25.4 rebound chances in his last five, which ranks 1st in the NAB, according to NBA.com.

Take a look at Zubac's game log during this stretch:

  • 17 PTS, 11 REB (28)

  • 20 PTS, 19 REB (39)

  • 13 PTS, 15 REB (28)

  • 21 PTS, 15 REB (36)

  • 19 PTS, 12 REB (31)

As we can see here, Zubac is either right at the number (28) or comfortably past it (39) in points+rebounds during this five-game sample.

Look for Zubac to keep it rolling in our NBA bet of the day.

Knicks vs Wizards SGP (+238)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 Unit

  • Knicks -12 (-108)

  • Over 230.5 Points (-112)

I’m zeroing in on this Eastern Conference matchup between the Knicks and Wizards for today’s best NBA same-game parlay (+236).

This game will be the second straight matchup between these teams after New York earned a 136-132 overtime victory on Saturday. I’m expecting the rematch to be far less competitive and to more similarly resemble the 134-106 win the Knicks picked up at Madison Square Garden in November. New York has won seven straight contests, including four by double digits, while Washington’s previous five defeats came by 10-plus points.

I also love the Over in this contest. Washington plays at the league’s fourth-fastest pace, and the Knicks have shown the willingness to run with teams that prefer to up the tempo. Additionally, New York’s second-ranked offense has torched Washington’s 29th-ranked defense in both previous meetings, which comfortably cleared this number (even without accounting for overtime.) Expect this third matchup to follow a similar flow.
