What's Happening With Lamar's Contract?! 🤔

COLLUSION in The NFL 🤯
Ravens sent notice to the NFLPA that they placed the $32.41 million non-exclusive franchise tag on QB Lamar Jackson. He now is allowed to negotiate with other teams, but Ravens have right to match any offer sheet he signs or take two first-round picks in return for him. twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

What you need to know 👇
Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens have been in talks for a contract for two years, but it seems they are still far from reaching an agreement, as evidenced by Jackson receiving another franchise tag. This tag allows other teams to offer him a better deal, and the Ravens are willing to let the market regulate their dispute. We all know what Lamar brings to the table, and he should easily be one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league if not the highest-paid one. So, why have the negotiations not progressed? COLLUSION.
This is where things are getting tricky. Fans (including me) are speculating that Lamar is being used as a pawn so the owners can avoid a precedent of guaranteed contracts established by the Browns and Deshaun Watson. Deshaun received a five-year, fully-guaranteed $230 million contract with the Cleveland Browns in this deal. This is where the ultimate disagreement lies with Lamar and the Ravens. Lamar wants a fully-guaranteed contract and the Ravens are not willing to offer him that.
Although other teams would obviously LOVE to have Lamar on their team, they are publicly proclaiming to be staying away from him. Now, why would teams stay away from a top-5 QB in the league? COLLUSION. The other owners are avoiding contract negotiations with Lamar because they do not want to continue the precedent of fully-guaranteed contracts, leaving Lamar crawling back to the Ravens.
Aaron Rodgers Meeting With The Jets
On Tuesday, Woody Johnson, Robert Saleh, Nathaniel Hackett, and Joe Douglas of the New York Jets, traveled cross-country to California to make a pitch to Aaron Rodgers. It remains to be seen whether Rodgers will make a decision soon. The Jets have put forth significant effort in their pursuit of the 39-year-old quarterback, having missed out on the opportunity to sign Derek Carr despite reportedly having a productive meeting with him. While Carr opted to sign with the New Orleans Saints, the Jets opted to hold out for a decision from Rodgers.
If the Jets fail to secure Rodgers, it could potentially be one of the most significant missed opportunities in franchise history.
Daniel Jones is in TROUBLE 😨
Jones just signed a four-year, $160 million contract with the New York Giants. While some fans love the move, others are still skeptical about a quarterback who only threw 15 touchdowns and won just one divisional game last season.
We all know how brutal sports fans can be, but the million-dollar question is which city has the craziest ones. The answer: New York sports fans, especially when their team overpays a player who doesn’t live up to expectations.
Daniel Jones now faces a mountain of pressure on his shoulders with his new contract. With expectations extremely high (as usual for New Yorkers), it remains to be seen what the 25-year-old quarterback can accomplish in his fifth year.
It's like they say: if you can't stand the heat, don't sign a big contract in the Big Apple! 🍎
